When you want to pay in a foreign currency in the Czech Republic and abroad
Your foreign exchange account is free for the first 2 months. You just need to receive at least CZK 15,000 in your current account with us and make at least 5 card payments per month. If you're under 27, even just card payments are enough. So don't miss out on, for example, CZK 21,253 a year. That's how much our clients could earn on average from World of Benefits last year.
How to arrange a foreign currency current account?
The fastest way to open a foreign currency account is online, via CSOB Smart app.
In CSOB Smart app→ Menu → Accounts and cards → Current account for foreign currency
To open the account in a branch, all you need is your ID card (foreigners will bring a passport and other documents if applicable).
Who benefits from a foreign exchange account
It's useful if you travel abroad often, shop at foreign e-shops or receive income in a foreign currency. In short, if you use foreign currency more than once a year on holiday.
A foreign exchange account saves you money on currency transfers
Every time you convert one currency to another, you lose some of your money. Even the most favourable exchange rate is always more expensive than a payment without conversion. That's what foreign exchange accounts are for, to avoid unnecessary conversions.
Ask for a credit card
We'll be happy to issue you a card with your foreign currency account. The digital one in Smart is ready to pay immediately with your mobile phone, for example via Google Pay or Apple Pay. The plastic card takes a maximum of 10 working days to produce and will arrive at your home by post. You can get the card for free (we’ll refund your monthly maintenance fee) if you meet the eligibility requirements for the World of Benefits program.

With the new E-exchange (E-směnárna) service, you can easily exchange crowns for euros, dollars or even pounds in ČSOB Smart. It takes just a few seconds to convert between your current and foreign currency accounts, so you can do it whenever you need to.
Pricelist
For accounts denominated in foreign currency, the specified fees are converted with the effective ČSOB mid-point foreign currency exchange rates (according the ČSOB exchange rate sheet) on the fee posting date. Such fees are billed in the equivalent of the account currency.
