How to submit a payment?

Electronically

The fastest and easiest way to submit a payment is via a computer, tablet or smartphone. Through our Internet Banking you can submit and adjust all types of payments including standing payment orders and direct debit permissions. Entry to Internet Banking and every payment is confirmed by an SMS key or by the ČSOB Smart Key Application.

Plus, you always have your account in your pocket – we have the ČSOB Smart app, which brings you even more benefits.

Personally at a branch

If you prefer personal contact, you can complete a a paper order (available in Czech only) for payment at any branch – either with a cashier at the counter, or more cheaply on your own before placing it in the collection box. Just be careful that you sign it correctly according to your sample signature.

Personally at the post office

You can also submit a payment order from your account at any Czech Post office. All you need is an activated payment card when submitting a payment order at the post office. You can activate it at any of our branches or on the +420 495 300 300 line.

TIP: Also pay by card at the post office for postal services (packages and cash on delivery) or for Czech Point services and withdraw or deposit money to your account. These services are automatically activated on every one of our cards.

When will the money be delivered?

Outgoing payments

This always depends on when you submit the payment. If you submit it via Electronic Banking on a working day by 10 p.m. or during working hours at a branch (but only by 5 p.m.), we will send the payment the same day. If you submit it at another time (e.g. after 10 p.m., at the weekend or at a branch after 5 p.m.), we will send it the following working day.

And when will the payment reach the beneficiary?

  • If the beneficiary has an account with us, they will receive the payment the day it is sent by midnight at the latest.
  • If the payment is going to another bank,, it should be credited to the beneficiary’s account on the next working day after is it sent.

If you submit the payment before a weekend or state holiday, the processing time will be prolonged by these days.

TIP: If you want to be certain that a payment will be sent immediately after you submit it, use the priority payment service.

Incoming payments

How long it takes to credit money to your account depends on when and from which bank it was sent. We credit money within our bank the day the payment is submitted. However, the sender has to submit the payment on a working day by 10 p.m. Otherwise it will arrive the following working day.

If the money is coming from another bank, it depends on their terms for processing payments. Once the bank processes and sends the payment, you will have the money in your account at our bank by the end of the working day after the day it was actually sent.

Types of payments and important terms

Depending on your needs, you can enter payments on a one-off or permanent basis, and permit direct debit or SIPO payments. Below you will read what the most commonly used terms mean.

Outgoing payments

Outgoing payments are the basic instruments for sending money. Usually, all you need to submit them is the beneficiary’s account number and the bank code where they have an account. You choose the sum and maturity date.

The rest (variable symbol, constant symbol) are non-obligatory items, but if the beneficiary wants them (usually companies that provide services, such as mobile operators, energy providers, etc.), use them. Make sure you fill in the variable or specific symbol correctly.

Faster and prioritised processing via priority payment

Priority payment guarantees that we will process the order on the day you submit it. So you can be certain that it will arrive in the beneficiary’s account on the same working day.

Priority payment is a paid service and you can submit it:

  • At a branch – until 1:30 p.m. at the latest
  • Through the internet banking – until 2:15 p.m. at the latest
QR payment writes the payment data for you

Paying monthly charges for services with a one-off outgoing payment order is laborious and you risk making a mistake when writing the data. Most service suppliers provide a QR code on the invoice (a square similar to a bar code) that our ČSOB Smart can read, and it then completes the payment order for you. Easy and fast.

Standing payment orders and direct debits

Standing payment order

Use a standing payment order if you regularly (e.g. every month) pay the same sum – e.g. for rent. This is similar to a one-off payment order, but in addition you decide on the frequency (monthly, yearly, etc.).

Direct debit permission

The simplest way to pay fees and invoices for services. By enabling a direct debit permission, you authorise a service provider to automatically collect the sum it invoices you each month from your account.

How it works?
  • You allow the service in your account settings (if you want to have more control, select the maximum sum that the supplier can transfer from your account).
  • You then inform the supplier that the service has been set up on your account and submit your account number.

TIP: If you want to pay for a fixed line from O2 Czech Republic by direct debit, you don’t need to conclude a written agreement with them. We will inform O2 about your permission on payments.

SIPO payment

A post office service that pays all the suppliers whose services you use (energy, telephone, Internet, television, etc.) for you. Just like a direct debit, the post office debits the total for all your ordered services from your account once a month.

All you need is the connecting number, which Czech Post will give you. You will find it on the SIPO payment breakdown. Then simply fill in the number in the account settings and notify all suppliers who you want to pay this way.

You only need to submit a request to carry out or change SIPO payments by the 20th day in a month. The first payment will be made from the next month. A request to cancel services without an effective date will cancel the SIPO on the working day after the request is delivered to ČSOB at the latest.

Additional frequent terms (variable symbol, specific symbol, constant symbol, bank code, etc.) have been prepared for you in the Help section.
