Frequently asked questions
How much does a contact payment cost?
With a Plus Account, Postal Account, or Premium Account, you pay nothing.
We treat contact payments as instant outgoing payments, where the recipient receives the money immediately in their account.
If you have a different account, we charge a fee for instant payments. You can avoid this by entering the payment as a standard payment. To be sure, we are including a link to the complete price list.
Can I send a Payment to Contact to an international phone number?
Yes, but only with the Slovak prefix +421. The recipient must have a registered number with their bank and an active Payment to Contact service.
If you select a number from your contact list without an international prefix, the prefix +420 will be filled in automatically.
Can I change the phone number for registering Contact Payments?
Yes, you can, at any ČSOB branch or post office.
Just be aware that your phone number is linked to your ČSOB Identity (digital ID card). This means that if you want to register a different number for Contact Payments, you must also change the phone number linked to your ČSOB Identity, which is used to communicate with the bank.
Is registration for the Contact Payments service permanent?
Unfortunately, no. If no one sends you money to your phone number for 6 months, the service will deactivate itself and you will need to pair your phone number with your account number again. In ČSOB Smart, you will always see when your Contact Payments are active. It is automatically extended with each incoming Contact Payment. We will notify you of the upcoming expiration 3 months before it expires.
How can I cancel the Contact Payments service?
You can easily cancel your registration in ČSOB Smart (in the Registration → Registration Management section).
Can I have one phone number registered to multiple accounts?
No. You can only have your phone number registered to one bank account at a time so that it is clear where the money should go.
Can I have multiple phone numbers registered to one account?
Yes. For example, if you share an account with your spouse, you can have both phone numbers registered to it.
I am an account manager. Do I need the account owner's consent to register for Payments to Contact?
No, you don't.
Can I link Payments on Contact to a credit card?
Yes, you can. The phone number can also be linked to other products, such as a savings account, in addition to a credit card. When registering your phone number for Payments on Contact, you can choose which product you want to pair it with.
What should I do if I see the message "mobile number is already registered to another current account" during registration?
This message may appear in two cases:
- your phone number is paired with another current account,
- you have the number of another user and they have registered it with Contact Payments in the past.
In these situations, our ČSOB Smart app will automatically offer to send a request to release the number. All you need to do is have the current holder confirm it.

Do I need to have a registered number to send payments?
No, you don't. Registering your phone number with Contact Payments is only necessary so that others can send money to you.
How does the bank know where to send the money based only on a phone number?
After entering a Contact Payment, the bank connects the sender to the Czech National Bank's register. From there, it obtains the account number that the payment recipient has paired with their phone number and sends the payment to that account.
How can I be sure that I am sending money to the right person?
Before you approve a Contact Payment, you will see the name of the recipient's account, which usually includes their first and last name or company name. This allows you to easily verify that you are sending money where you want to and not accidentally sending it somewhere else.
