Conditions for opening accounts

CSOB Account, CSOB Active Account and CSOB Exclusive Account

You can open the accounts if you are older then 18. Usually, all you have to do is to submit one document:

  • Czech citizen – ID card,
  • foreigner – passport (and possibly other documents if CSOB requires).

The minimum initial deposit is CZK 200. The exact amount of a permitted account overdraft depends on an assessment of your financial situation.

CSOB Student Account Plus

You can open the account if you are older than 15 and you can use its benefits until 28. All you have to do is to submit:

  • up to the age of 19 – ID card (Czech citizens) or a passport (foreigners),
  • from the age of 19 – also a confirmation/document of studies at a secondary school, college or university (college student card, identification card or student’s book from which it is obvious that you are a full-time student).

The minimum initial deposit is CZK 200. A legal representative must be present if the account is being opened for a minor.

The document proving studies must always be submitted after reaching the age of 19 (or after the end of the school year when the account holder reached this age) and also after the end of the period which the account holder indicated as the presumed study time in the given type of secondary school, college or university.

Foreigners can open the account if they are regular students at a domestic secondary school, vocational college, college or university (or at least a 4-semester follow-up course or postgraduate course). The account is not available to foreign students in the Czech Republic for a short-term study visit.

A permitted account overdraft to the account depends on:

  • submitting the student’s book, ISIC card or identification card (paper confirmation of studies with the stamp of the school is not accepted)
  • the obligation to pay the drawn amount of credit at least once during 12 months after the date of the last repayment (i.e. when the balance in the account is positive or zero),
  • the final repayment of the drawn amount on the last day of the month when you reach 28.
