Insurance against the Loss or Theft of a Payment Card

Insurance intended to protect a cardholder’s money in the event a payment card is stolen, lost or destroyed. It covers unauthorised use of a payment card if it is lost. It also includes cash, personal documents or keys stolen or lost along with the payment card. The insurance is valid worldwide.

Benefits

The insurance will give you security when you use your payment card, and covers the possible consequences of the loss or theft of the card. Other benefits include:

compensation for money lost through unauthorized use of the payment card,
protection 120 hours before the theft or loss of the card is reported,
compensation for fees charged for the issue of a substitute card,
protection in the event cash is stolen using the card or during a robbery at a counter within two hours after withdrawal,
compensation of the cost of new keys to replace those lost for your permanent address up to CZK 4,000,
compensation for the cost of new personal documents and photographs for these documents up to CZK 2,000,
compensation for fees charged for a lost/stolen mobile telephone and purse/wallet for Classic and higher variants.

Loss is understood as:

theft,
missing – the state when the insured party is, against his will, unable to use the card,
destruction – a change in the status of the card that cannot objectively be undone, the price of which would not exceed the costs you would incur to permanently restrict the validity of the lost card.

The insurance does not apply to:

the date the payment card insurance is arranged,
transactions with the use of the PIN, when ČSOB does not assume any responsibility.

Other characteristics:

The loss or theft or a payment card must be reported by phone (+420 495 800 111) to the number given to the cardholder upon receipt of the payment card.
